Today we are launching a new project! We’ve been working on this during lockdown and we’re excited to finally share it. Great Americana is a library of details from lost American landscapes. It started as a way to explore new places and travel through space and time during confinement: we found ourself browsing through an archive of United States maps, becoming everyday more and more curious to see how those places were today trough satellite maps and StreetView. We then decided to create our own archive of these territories, to witness the changes and transformations that went through all these years. We collected and redrawed a selection of maps, all framed into a 2.5 x 2.5 km square, including rivers, mountains, cities with bizarre names, and we are now going to share them three times a week on Great Americana social media channels; these maps are going to be divided into sections and categories and will be gathered into quarterly publications.
